70% of Iran’s Medical Equipment Needs Met by Domestic Production; Smart Support Dashboard Launched

Mohammad Mehdi Alaeeddin, Deputy Technical Director of the General Directorate of Medical Equipment, announced at the second press conference for the 26th International Iran Health Exhibition that a significant portion of the event is dedicated to domestic production and technology-driven companies. This year, Iran Health, the country’s largest medical equipment event, hosts 1,442 domestic manufacturers offering 1,811 locally produced items.
Alaeeddin highlighted the launch of the National Support Dashboard for Domestic Production as a key innovation of this edition. Designed as a comprehensive roadmap for manufacturers and investors, the dashboard aims to increase transparency, streamline production processes, reduce costs, and address barriers. It will be dynamically updated to reflect industry developments and will be accessible to all sector stakeholders.
He noted that, in line with the Seventh Development Plan, the goal is to boost Iran’s medical equipment exports to $1 billion through cooperation between the Food and Drug Administration, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.
Throughout the exhibition, the Food and Drug Administration’s service desk will be available to assist manufacturers and exporters with regulatory issues, accelerating the licensing process. These services are intended to facilitate production and support Iranian entrepreneurs and businesses.
Alaeeddin also pointed to specialized sessions focused on hospital equipment and domestic production challenges, providing a forum for knowledge exchange, market needs assessment, and fostering opportunities for joint collaboration.
He stated that 70% of the domestic market demand for medical equipment is currently met by Iranian products, though this accounts for 31% of the market in terms of value. Expressing optimism about the continued growth of the industry, Alaeeddin said that with ongoing support and new investments, the share of Iranian-made products in both domestic and international markets will rise, driving job creation and export growth.
