90% of Specialized Hospitals in Iran Equipped with Locally Made Medical Devices

At the second press conference for Iran Health 2025, Abdolreza Yaghoubzadeh, President of the Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporter, highlighted the significant participation of syndicate members in the exhibition, describing it as the country’s largest platform for presenting health technology innovations. He emphasized that Iran Health offers an unparalleled opportunity to showcase domestic manufacturers’ capabilities and to foster engagement between local firms and international health sector stakeholders.
Yaghoubzadeh stated that policies supporting domestic production have yielded tangible results, with 90% of the equipment used in newly established specialized hospitals now supplied and installed by Iranian manufacturers. He noted that these locally produced devices not only fulfill domestic market demands but are also increasingly competitive in international markets, with some products already being exported to neighboring countries and beyond.
Addressing challenges faced by the industry, Yaghoubzadeh identified the allocation of subsidized foreign currency for importing medical equipment as a major issue for local producers. He explained that the import of similar foreign devices at preferential exchange rates undermines the competitiveness of Iranian products and discourages domestic manufacturers. Eliminating such subsidies, he argued, would be an effective step toward supporting local production and improving the quality of Iranian medical devices.
