Supporting Domestic Achievements Is Essential for Retaining Knowledge-Based Elites, Says Head of Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporter

June 8, 2025 – The Chairman of the Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporter emphasized that keeping Knowledge-Based Elites in the country requires more than slogans—it demands real support for their achievements. Speaking at the opening of the 26th Iran Health Exhibition, he noted that many innovators in the medical equipment sector have sold personal assets, such as their homes, to bring indigenized products to market. Without practical support and purchase of these high-value achievements, retaining top talent in Iran will not be possible.

He highlighted the relentless efforts of small and medium-sized companies, many of which have mortgaged their properties to develop and showcase their products at the Iran Health Exhibition. The presence of officials and decision-makers at these booths can provide crucial encouragement. He urged that, even if the Minister is unavailable, deputies should dedicate attention to medical equipment, not just pharmaceuticals.

According to the head of the syndicate, several devices produced by small domestic companies are already competitive with international counterparts, but sustaining this level of innovation requires ongoing research and consistent support. He stated, “Production is a battlefield, not just a competition. To retain Knowledge-Based Elites, investment is necessary—not just promises and slogans, but real purchases of their outcomes.”

He also expressed concern over slow government procurement processes, noting that decision-making delays place significant pressure on local innovators. If better opportunities arise abroad, the risk of losing elite talent increases. He called for allocating budgets directly to support domestic achievements and for recognizing the critical role of advanced medical equipment, especially as Iran’s population ages and the need for modern hospital beds and equipment grows.

The 26th Iran Health Exhibition, featuring a significant presence from domestic and international companies, is being held at the Tehran International Exhibition Center from June 8 to 11, 2025.
