Strengthening Iran-Afghanistan Health Cooperation at Iran Health Exhibition 2025

June 11, 2025 – Mawlawi Noorjalal Jalali, Acting Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led an official delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran to advance bilateral health cooperation, coinciding with the 26th Iran Health Exhibition in Tehran.
During his visit to the Iran Health Exhibition, Jalali met with the Director-General of Medical Equipment and Supplies at the Iranian Food and Drug Administration and explored the latest technological achievements in Iran’s health sector. He noted that, despite international sanctions, Iran has made significant progress in medical equipment and technology, and emphasized the potential for Afghanistan to benefit from Iran’s expertise and resources, given the similarities in their international situations.
Jalali described the exhibition as an excellent opportunity to discover Iranian innovations and expressed hope for similar events to be held in Afghanistan. He also invited Afghan investors and business leaders to consider acquiring and utilizing medical technologies showcased at the event for Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
In a meeting with Dr. Mohammadreza Zafarghandi, Iran’s Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as experience sharing, specialized training, and enhancement of healthcare services in Afghanistan. According to the Embassy of Iran in Kabul, these meetings were designed to facilitate scientific, educational, and technological collaborations between the two countries.
The Afghan delegation also visited Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Baqiyatallah Hospital, where Iranian officials presented plans for knowledge transfer and expressed readiness to organize long-term training programs for Afghan healthcare personnel.
This visit marks an important step toward leveraging the capacities of both countries in health and paves the way for deeper, more effective cooperation in the near future.
