Artificial Intelligence in Iranian Anesthesia Machine: The Future Is Now

June 9, 2025 – In a groundbreaking advance for medical technology, Iranian researchers have developed the country’s first anesthesia machine equipped with artificial intelligence capable of real-time respiratory analysis. This innovation marks a major milestone in the smart transformation of hospital equipment and reduces dependence on imported advanced medical devices.

Developed by the knowledge-based company Med Fanavaran Plus, the prototype was unveiled at the Iran Health Exhibition 2025. According to CEO Mostafa Taghipour, this anesthesia machine utilizes advanced AI algorithms to continuously monitor and analyze the patient’s respiratory data, providing expert-level recommendations similar to those of an experienced physician. This capability is particularly valuable in critical situations—such as busy operating rooms or when skilled personnel are in short supply.

The machine’s analytical software can be customized to each patient’s physical condition and is designed for high precision and safety in both general anesthesia and intensive care settings. As part of this project, the company has also developed independent cardiac analysis software, which operates directly on hospital servers and delivers rapid, physician-grade insights using machine learning. This tool enables simultaneous multi-department use across hospital facilities.

Taghipour emphasized the company’s commitment to developing indigenized, intelligent medical technologies, stating, “Artificial intelligence is no longer the future—it is the present. We strive to design products that not only match but sometimes surpass foreign competitors, relying on domestic expertise and cutting-edge technology.”.
