From Scrap to Restored:

Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Revives Medical Equipment

June 8, 2025 – Vista Tajhiz Ehya, the first and only Iranian Small & medium-sized knowledge-based company (SME) specializing in the restoration and refurbishment of medical equipment, is unlocking new value in the country’s healthcare sector. According to CEO Mohammad Moeid Malekzadeh, the company was founded amid sanctions with the goal of maximizing utilization and efficiency from underused or idle medical devices in hospitals.

Vista Tajhiz Ehya restores medical equipment to a near-factory state and, in many cases, upgrades older units—such as replacing outdated ultrasound or echocardiography monitors with modern, advanced screens. This process is 50% to 80% less expensive than purchasing new devices, making it a highly cost-effective and attractive solution for healthcare providers.

To date, nearly 1,000 medical devices have been restored and returned to service, generating an estimated 20millioninforeigncurrencysavingsforIran.Thecompanyestimatesthedomesticmarketpotentialinthissectorcouldreach20 million in foreign currency savings for Iran. The company estimates the domestic market potential in this sector could reach 1 billion. However, Malekzadeh highlighted ongoing challenges, including delayed payments from public hospitals, which have forced the company to reduce its services to state institutions from 97% to 47% over the past year, shifting focus to the private sector. If payment issues persist, services to public hospitals may drop to just 20%.

Restoring medical equipment is a global high-tech industry, and even countries not under sanctions benefit from this approach. Vista Tajhiz Ehya is negotiating international contracts, with final agreements in place to refurbish dialysis machines for Russia annually and plans to expand services to other devices and countries, including Iraq and Belarus. While the company faces no regional competitors in the Middle East, it competes globally with major firms exporting refurbished equipment to Africa from Europe and North America.

Vista Tajhiz Ehya’s regional leadership underlines the potential of Iranian innovation in sustainable healthcare solutions.
