Integration of National and International Knowledge-Based Health Capacities at Iran Health Exhibition 2025

June 1, 2025 – The third press conference of the 26th Iran Health Exhibition was held with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Health, managers of Pardis Technology Park, and media representatives.

Dr. Ali Jafarian, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Health, highlighted the longstanding role of the Iran Health Exhibition in the country’s health industry. He stated that there are approximately 3,000 registered companies in the medical equipment sector, with 2,000 actively operating, and 1,500 registered pharmaceutical companies, of which 56 are key players. The total foreign currency allocation for medical equipment and pharmaceuticals is $3.5 billion, though allocation constraints by the Central Bank remain a challenge. The Ministry of Health seeks to offset any shortfalls from alternative funds to prevent unreasonable price increases for medicines.

Jafarian emphasized the national significance and permanent capacity of the Iran Health Exhibition, noting that the majority of essential medical equipment for hospitals is domestically produced, while only high-tech imports require foreign currency allocation. The exhibition is organized entirely by the private sector, with the government aiming to enhance synergy and networking. He underscored that self-sufficiency should be based on competitive advantages.

Mehdi Saffari-Nia, President of Pardis Technology Park, announced that the 26th Iran Health Exhibition will open next week, with the park contributing to the event’s innovation capacity. This year, 1,200 companies applied, of which 580 were selected to exhibit in 12 specialized halls covering 38,000 square meters. The exhibition will feature 35 side events to encourage collaboration between companies and universities, and will welcome 100 academic delegates from 20 countries. Additional highlights include a 150-square-meter dedicated media area and an exclusive pavilion for 18 companies led by returning or internationally active Iranian professionals, supported by the National Elites Foundation and the Vice Presidency for Scientific, Technological and Knowledge-Based Economy Affairs.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for media cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Health and Pardis Technology Park. Due to high demand, around 70 companies could not be accommodated. Full coordination with the General Department of Medical Equipment ensures participant validation and prevents foreign company violations.

Saffari-Nia also outlined future plans, including increased resource allocation for indigenized medical equipment and support for leasing programs for both public and private hospitals. He emphasized the prominent role of the Iranian diaspora this year, reflecting the country’s strong knowledge-based ecosystem in health.

The Iran Health Exhibition will take place from June 8 to 11, 2025, at the Iran International Exhibition Center, with broad participation from health sector stakeholders, knowledge-based companies, academics, and international experts.
