Accelerating Health Innovation: Intellectual Property Protection Expands for Iranian Inventors and Brands

June 8, 2025 – The Acting Head of the Intellectual Property Center of the Registry Organization announced comprehensive legal and registration support for innovations, inventions, and brands in the health sector during the Iran Health Exhibition. He emphasized the pivotal role of trademarks in shaping product identity, from simple syringes to advanced dental devices, and confirmed that the Center is prepared to process trademark registrations quickly and accurately.

Highlighting the dynamic and technical nature of the health industry, he reported a steady rise in patent applications. The Center, as the national authority, registers and protects inventions that are new, inventive, and industrially applicable. This support extends internationally, as Iran’s membership in multiple treaties, including the Madrid Convention, enables global protection of patents, trademarks, and industrial designs.

He noted that innovative designs for medical equipment, even for items as basic as syringes or dental chairs, are eligible for industrial design registration and international safeguarding. Previously, producers had to register brands in each country separately, but now, with Iran as a national point of registration, all processes can be completed domestically—an advantage for companies targeting regional and European markets.

The Center is ready to set up a dedicated service desk at the exhibition for on-site support with patent, industrial design, and trademark matters. Health industry stakeholders unable to attend in person can easily access the official portal by searching for the Intellectual Property Center online to benefit from specialized services.
