Liquidity Crisis Remains Major Obstacle for Iran’s Medical Equipment Production

June 8, 2025 – The Deputy Minister of Health and Head of the Food and Drug Administration emphasized that securing foreign currency and liquidity remain the most significant challenges facing Iran’s medical equipment manufacturers. He warned that, without substantial banking support and facilitation from economic institutions, the sector cannot achieve meaningful growth.

He noted that companies in this field are struggling not only with production but also with sourcing foreign currency for spare parts and raw materials. Liquidity constraints continue to hinder production, and recent currency fluctuations have intensified these problems.

The official called for coordinated action from the Central Bank, the Planning and Budget Organization, and other relevant authorities to implement practical financial and credit support for manufacturers. He also highlighted the need for an export-oriented approach and regulatory reforms to help Iranian products access regional and neighboring markets.

With strict quality and regulatory standards in place, only products that fully comply with technical and clinical requirements receive market approval. The official urged all institutions to create actionable plans to boost domestic production, emphasizing that innovation and quality must go hand in hand.

This year’s Iran Health Exhibition hosts 580 domestic and international companies across 11 exhibition halls, features 45 specialized forums, and includes an exclusive pavilion for returning Iranian elites. The event runs from June 8 to 11, 2025, at the Tehran International Exhibition Center.
