PRP: An Innovative Solution for Pain, Inflammation, and Aesthetic Medicine

June 10, 2025 – Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has emerged as a complementary and innovative approach for a wide range of medical and aesthetic conditions. In recent years, physicians have increasingly adopted PRP for the treatment of chronic pain, inflammation, and various cosmetic applications.

Dr. Hossein Habibi, a hematology specialist and faculty member at Varastegan University of Medical Sciences, explained that platelets are not only essential for blood clotting but also play a key role in tissue repair and cellular regeneration. Research over the past two decades has demonstrated that platelets contribute to cell regeneration and inflammation reduction, making PRP widely applicable for managing pain and chronic conditions.

PRP therapy is now used in multiple fields, including wrinkle reduction, hair loss treatment, healing chronic wounds and burns, orthopedic conditions such as joint and muscle injuries, and even infertility therapy, where it can improve embryo implantation success.

The PRP process involves drawing the patient’s blood, isolating platelets, and injecting the enriched plasma into the targeted area. In infertility treatment, this technique is used to enhance reproductive outcomes.

Dr. Habibi stressed that PRP preparation and injection should only be conducted by trained laboratory experts or licensed physicians, as improper handling can cause serious harm. He advised individuals seeking cosmetic or therapeutic interventions to visit accredited and licensed centers to avoid unwanted complications.

PRP, as a safe and versatile option, continues to gain recognition for its effectiveness in tissue repair, pain relief, and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures, provided it is performed by qualified professionals.
