Training of Technical Supervisors Falls Victim to Mismanagement; Halal Center Replaces Association

June 9, 2025 – The recent “Challenges of Technical Supervisors” panel at the Iran Health Exhibition highlighted critical issues facing technical supervisors in Iran’s medical equipment sector. Panelists emphasized that the responsibility for training technical supervisors, previously managed by the Medical Equipment Specialists Association, has been transferred to the Halal Center—a move widely criticized for lacking sector-specific expertise.
Ahmad Moslemi, chairman of the association, explained that while the technical supervisor role has long been established in the pharmaceutical and food industries, it has only recently been formally recognized in the medical equipment sector. The association has provided training to over 20,000 technical supervisors nationwide, both in-person and online, but recent policy changes have shifted this responsibility to the Halal Center, which is not specialized in medical equipment.
Moslemi noted that, since this transfer, training sessions have become rare and are perceived as lacking in quality. He criticized the previous administration at the Ministry of Health for negative and unproductive management, which exacerbated challenges for both the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sectors. However, with new leadership and the appointment of Dr. Pirsalehi as deputy, there is renewed hope for restoring the association’s training responsibilities.
Despite these challenges, the association remains committed to supporting technical supervisors and advancing its own programs, regardless of official designation. Panelists concluded that effective training and oversight are essential for the professionalization and safety of Iran’s medical equipment sector, and called for the return of training responsibilities to specialized associations
