On the eve\nof the 26th International Iran Health Exhibition, officials have announced\nstrategic plans to position Iran as the region\u2019s leading center for medical\nequipment production. Key priorities highlighted at the event\u2019s second press\nconference include supporting knowledge-based companies, leveraging regional\ntrade agreements, and strengthening export infrastructure.<\/p>

Mostafa\nGhanei, Secretary of the Biotechnology Development Headquarters at the Vice\nPresidency for Science and Technology, emphasized the exhibition\u2019s pivotal role\nin promoting exports and showcasing Iran\u2019s technological capabilities. He noted\nthat Iran\u2019s membership in alliances such as BRICS, Shanghai, and ECO offers\nunique opportunities to access new markets and consolidate Iran\u2019s regional\nstanding.<\/p>

According\nto the Seventh Development Plan, specific missions have been defined for\nmedical equipment exports, pharmaceuticals, and health tourism, with Iran\nHealth 2025 serving as a vehicle for achieving these goals.<\/p>

Ghanei\npointed to special support programs at this year\u2019s exhibition, including the\npresence of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund, the Vice Presidency for Science\nand Technology, and dedicated service desks for knowledge-based companies,\ncreating a direct channel to address sector challenges. Special pavilions and\ndisplays of strategic health products have been set up to boost exports and\nhighlight the country\u2019s technological strengths.<\/p>

Despite\nsanctions, significant advances in medical equipment and pharmaceuticals have\nbeen made thanks to the determination of domestic producers. Ghanei called for\nstructured support to convert this potential into tangible global market share.<\/p>

He\nreported that Iran currently imports around\n1.8billioninpharmaceuticalsandrawmaterialsandabout1.8 billion in\npharmaceuticals and raw materials and about 2 billion in medical equipment. New\ninitiatives\u2014such as plasma production\u2014are expected to yield substantial foreign\ncurrency savings, with a single plant potentially saving up to $400 million\nannually.<\/p>

Strategic\nhealth items, as prioritized by government decree, can be introduced to the\nMinistry of Industry, Mine, and Trade at full priority and value. Coordination\namong the Ministry of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Medical\nEquipment Directorate maximizes opportunities for companies participating in\nthe exhibition.<\/p>

Ghanei\nalso highlighted structural weaknesses in the health tourism sector, noting\nthat the lack of transparent data and proper registration hinders accurate\nrevenue assessment. Development in this area requires accreditation of\ntreatment centers, service standardization, and official listing in relevant\nsystems.<\/p>

He\nstressed the importance of technology diplomacy under sanctions, noting limited\ninternational participation by Iranian firms. Ghanei called for coordinated\nefforts by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Industry, and Health to invite\nforeign delegations to Iran Health 2025, creating new opportunities for\ninternational collaboration.<\/p>

In\nconclusion, Ghanei emphasized that synergy among government bodies, syndicates,\nand the private sector is key to establishing Iran as the region\u2019s main hub for\nmedical equipment production and exports. With the right strategy, Iran can\nbecome a technological anchor in the region.<\/p>
