June 10, 2025 \u2013 A multidisciplinary team of Iranian\nspecialists has successfully designed and developed the Integrum hand\nprosthesis, featuring voluntary control, to assist individuals with limb loss.\nDr. Nafiseh Jirofti, Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at Mashhad University\nof Medical Sciences and manager of the Bone and Joint Research Laboratory,\nexplained that this project resulted in a five-link Integrum prosthetic hand\nwith a control system based on magnetic implants placed within the user\u2019s\nmuscles. These magnets detect target signals generated by muscle contractions.<\/p>

The magnetic signals are transmitted to an artificial\nintelligence network, where movement patterns are defined and trained. The\nrobotic hand then translates these patterns, enabling the user to control the\nprosthetic fingers and hand movements through their own intent.<\/p>

To date, the Integrum hand has been implanted in two\npatients. Unlike traditional EMG systems, which receive signals from the skin\nsurface, this innovative approach places magnets directly inside the muscle,\nsignificantly reducing noise and increasing precision.<\/p>

The Integrum hand\u2019s mechanical structure allows direct\nattachment of the prosthetic fingers to the bone, resulting in enhanced\nfunctionality and a more natural feeling for the user. This breakthrough means\nthat amputees perceive the prosthesis as part of their own body, leading to\nimproved adaptation and substantial positive impacts on their quality of life.<\/p>

The product\u2019s design phase is complete and\nmanufacturing is underway. The magnet implantation procedure, an innovative\nsurgical technique involving tendon and muscle transfer, was performed by Dr.\nAli Moradi.
